FOUR women, including two siblings, and two men have appeared before Beitbridge magistrate Aniah Chimweta on allegations of murder after they allegedly fatally assaulted an intruder at their rented house on Saturday last week.

Rosemary (26) and Pamela Musonza (35), Dadirayi Taruvinga (24), Talent Matare (45), Isaiah Chakabva (36) and Luke Chinyowa (20) were not asked to plead and advised to apply for bail at the High Court.

All six, five of them residents at 2624 Two Rooms in Dulibadzimu and their neighbour Chakabva, are expected back in court on July 1 this year for routine remand.

Prosecutor Esnath Vengedza told the court that on the fateful day, the now-deceased entered the house and Rosemary Musonza shouted that there was a thief in the house.

Her fellow residents woke up and allegedly took turns to assault the now-deceased.

Chakabva and Chinyowa allegedly joined in.

The assault was captured on video, where the now-deceased is heard begging for water in vain.

The alleged assailants poured water on the now-deceased and continued bashing him despite attempts by another woman to restrain them.

The assault stopped after the suspected intruder became unconscious and the assailants poured water on him.

He was found dead 25 metres from the assault scene.
