HOME Affairs minister, Kazembe Kazembe, has raised concern over the resource constraints dogging the police force and has appealed to Treasury to intervene.
“The ministry will continue to engage the government to provide resources,” Kazembe said at a conference for senior officers in Harare yesterday.
“I know that the police do not have enough resources to use, but I promise you I will do my best to make sure that you get what is needed.”
He urged the police to adapt to new technologies as a way of providing a better service.
“Another issue is as police you have to embrace whatever comes (our) way and shift from the traditional ways of policing and start to think what to do as police to have resources.”
Kazembe also lauded the police for ensuring that peace prevailed during the August polls.
Police Commissioner-General, Godwin Matanga accused political parties of stoking tensions in the run-up and after the polls.
“I am concerned by some political activists who have resorted to abusing social media platforms, inciting violence and spreading false messages,” he said.
