Zanu PF rescinds Mash West co-options

Machacha, who was in a combative mood, supervised election for Makonde’s district co-ordinating committee (DCC) chairperson position, putting an end to squabbles within the party that seemed to have divided provincial politburo members.

IN a move seen as an attempt to restore normalcy in Mashonaland West province, Zanu PF national political commissar Munyaradzi Machacha last week rescinded co-options of party members into structures that were not in line with the party’s constitution.

Machacha, who was in a combative mood, supervised election for Makonde’s district co-ordinating committee (DCC) chairperson position, putting an end to squabbles within the party that seemed to have divided provincial politburo members.

He also rescinded all co-options done unconstitutionally, including that of Tommy Mwanza, which was given to Makonde rural and Dought Ndiweni, that was given to Kariba, which was not adequately represented in the provincial committee.

In Makonde, elections were held to fill the DCC chairperson’s position that was left vacant after Kindness Paradza was promoted to the party’s central committee.

Elisha Bhokoro is the new chairperson after trouncing acting chairperson Tapera Mutovido. He garnered 14 of the 18 votes.

“We need a commissariat department like this [one] that does not side with factions” a Zanu PF youth in Chinhoyi said.

During the last provincial co-ordination committee meeting, some Zanu PF members expressed anger over the co-options, arguing that procedure was not followed when they were conducted, resulting in the intervention of the party’s commissariat department.
