A 39-YEAR-OLD woman from Emthunzini area has been jailed for five years for attempted murder after stabbing her neighbour in a brawl over a washing line.

Jester Tshuma appeared at Western Commonage Magistrates Court on Tuesday this week facing an attempted murder charge.

She was sentenced to five years imprisonment.

The court heard that on February 19 this year, Tshuma had a misunderstanding with Sithembile Dube (38) over the former’s clothes which had fallen from the washing line.

At around 1pm, Dube went to fetch water from a borehole and Tshuma followed her and confronted her over what she had said.

Tshuma charged towards Dube and pushed her before grabbing her T-shirt.

One Bigboy Nyathi tried to restrain the two and Tshuma immediately pulled a knife from her pocket and stabbed Dube once on the chest.

Dube sustained a deep cut on the chest and bled profusely.

A police report was made, leading to Tshuma’s arrest.
